FXStreet (Delhi) – Research Team at Investec, notes that the ongoing theme in currency markets continues to be investors selling US Dollars (USD) as they become more sceptical of Fed rate action this year.

    Key Quotes

“Particular winners last week included higher yielding major currencies such as the Australian Dollar (AUD) and New Zealand Dollar (NZD), and Emerging market (EM) currencies such as the South African Rand (ZAR).”

“A softer Non-Farm payroll release early this month, continually low inflation, commodity prices, and a slowdown in data from China that is trickling into developed markets, have all contributed to the attitude change.”

“Despite this, and a more dovish FOMC last month, Federal Reserve members continue to talk about rate hikes looking appropriate by the end of 2015, with vice-chair Stanley Fischer being the latest member this weekend to say there is potential for US rates to rise this year.”
