UK: PM Cameron confirms early referendum date preferred – Goldman Sachs

    FXStreet (Delhi) - Lasse Holboell Nielsen, Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs, notes that in a BBC interview on Sunday, PM Cameron reiterated his preference for a referendum as soon as possible after the current renegotiation of the UK’s relationship with the EU is concluded.

    “While this points to a June referendum, Mr Cameron noted that a later date of September or October was also feasible and could not rule out a date in 2017. He also stated that, were the referendum to result in a vote to leave the EU, he would not feel compelled to step down as PM since it was important that voters understood the referendum was solely about the UK’s position in the EU.”
