    Building permits for privately-owned housing units were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,161,000 in August of 2015, up 2.7 percent from the July rate of 1,130,000, according to revised data. Building permits had been previously reported as rising 3.5 percent in August to 1,170,000.
