Major equity indices in the US are trading mixed in the first hour post opening bell as investors await Fed minutes for further clues on interest rate outlook.

At the time of writing, Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) was down 0.22% or 38 points. S&P 500 index was down largely unchanged on the day. Meanwhile, the tech heavy Nasdaq was trading 14 points or 0.33% higher on the day.

DJIA oil and gas index was 0.30%. Shares in Caterpillar, United Technologies., and Verizon were each down 1.8% to 1.2%. The winning side included names like Pfizer, Merck&Co, Chevron and Visa.

Investors were also looking ahead to minutes from the Federal Reserve’s March policy meeting. They are likely to offer more details regarding Fed’s interest rate and economic projections.
